“As a colorist the encaustic medium provided me yet another palette to explore colors. Combined with a love of pattern and textiles I found a way to create pieces that really reflect my interests."
The first thing that will strike you about an encaustic piece is the unique brightness of its colors. Encaustic paintings seem to light from within- the colors are exceptionally bright, because the light does not get reflected from the surface of the painting, but penetrates the different wax layers. One of the most incredible qualities of an encaustic piece is that it can be polished to a high gloss -almost enamel like finish. For a complete show and workshop schedule visit Debbi Simon's blog.
