“An art teacher once said my strength was my use of color. I didn’t understand this at the time. And, to be honest I still don’t. When I try to apply the formal theories and rules of color to my designs it holds me back as an artist. I have learned to just go with my gut, and, it seems to work!”

“As a colorist, color, pattern and texture play an important role in my art and prevalent throughout my work…whatever medium. Currently I have been focusing my energy in creating encaustic paintings and my own jewelry designs. The jewelry designs usually have a crystal component because of my affiliation as an Ambassador for CRYSTALLIZED - Swarovski Elements. Lately I have been using jewelers’ grade resin and metal clay. Resin, a new star in the DIY segment, allows me to play with color and textures in so many new and refreshing ways. I have been busy developing new techniques I am excited to share with this medium.”
Debbi studied art and design at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) and Wisconsin University of Milwaukee earning a BFA in Design with a minor in Illustration and Photography. After spending a few years in the design field she decided that her passion was fine art and began painting seriously again. She continually experiments with different mediums. And, an introduction to beads added jewelry designs to her mix of mediums.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Debbi is an active mother of two wonderful teenagers. Between School, Soccer, and everything else - she has developed children and adult art workshops. “I love to teach both adult and children workshops. Adult classes help me connect with other creative people and the children classes allow me to share my art with my own children and their peers. I wish we all could all go back and create with the refreshing innocence of a child.”
